This Year, More Than Ever - We Need Your Support!

For over forty-five years, since its establishment in 1960, caring and generous private individuals and organizations from Israel and abroad have supported the Israel Sport Center for the Disabled. Less than one percent of the Center's budget derives from government sources.

 

We appeal to you to open your hearts, and to support our efforts to help the disabled children and youth in our care to overcome their disabilities and to strengthen their bodies and spirits. You can support us online, by email, or by phone.

Our main need is for new wheelchairs. Wheelchairs replace our disabled kids' loss of mobility. Only with the wheelchairs, are the kids able to take part in rehabilitative sports activities.

 

Regular sports wheelchairs	the kids use the wheelchairs for basketball, table tennis, tennis, field events, and additional ball games.	Price per unit: $2000
Petra Wheelchair	A new type of wheelchair recently developed in Denmark, designed for disabled kids with injuries in the lower torso and lower limbs. The lower legs are used to accelerate and to propel the wheelchair forward.	Price per unit: $2500
Racing Wheelchair	This wheelchair has three wheels, and is also called a tricycle. It is designed to develop high speeds and is manually operated. It is also used for long-distance races, including wheelchair marathons.	Price per unit: $3000

 

Despite constant maintenance and timely repairs, wheelchairs wear out after four years of intensive use. 400 wheelchairs are in use at the Center, and at least 100 wheelchairs must be replaced each year, at a cost of US $ 2000 each wheelchair – resulting in a total annual budget of US $200000. This is a permanent and ongoing need.
