Israel Sport Center For The Disabled

RACING FOR CEDRIC

7/07/2010

The traditional Cedric Coco Wheelchair Road Race took place after Passover.
Disabled children in wheelchairs raced alongside able-bodied children from the local "Nizanim" Elementary School.
This race was initiated some fifteen years ago by Cheryl Coco, in loving memory of her son Cedric, who was killed in a sports accident.
This race is a part of the center's ongoing efforts to integrate the disabled children into circles of Israeli society.
The over 100 participants were welcomed by Minister of Communication, Mr. Moshe Kahlon.
In the closing ceremony of the race, new wheelchairs, donated by Chloe Rapp from London on the occasion of her Bat Mitzvah, were handed over to young disabled athletes.
The children who received the chairs immediately tried them out with excitement.
